Enclosed Water Feature for DVCH

Rachael Van Dyke and Cameron Van Dyke have been commissioned to do one of four large artworks for the new Helen Devos Childerens Hospital opening in January 2011. The enclosed water feature is 16′ tall and will consist of three large acrylic panels with water entering at the top and passing through a series of colorful whimsical obstacles. Each panel depicts children interacting with water in one of three memorable ways – playing in the rain, bath time, and learning to swim. A requirement of the hospital is that children participate in the making of the artwork. Three high school art classes will be selected to work with Cameron and Rachael to create and test the obstacles. Below is a model of the water feature.
