Arts and Crafts / Danish Lounge Chair

These custom chairs were designed and built for a client with an Arts and Crafts style home who needed two chairs for an area in front of the fireplace. They looked at the heavy Morris style chairs, but they wanted the ability to easily move the chairs so that their kids could play in that area. They also happen to be big fans of Danish and Modern design. The resulting chair, designed by Cameron Van Dyke, integrates both design languages into a durable, comfortable, lightweight chair that feels very much at home in the Craftsman style house of the customer. Butternut wood is chosen because it is very lightweight and references both the grain structure of Oak and Mahogany. Leather upholstered cushions finish out the design.
