Custom Craftsman Style Kitchen

This kitchen in a 1920’s Grand Rapids Shingle style house was designed and built by Cameron Van Dyke, LLC.  The original kitchen had a very awkward layout, but by reclaiming a small breakfast nook area, removing a closet, and changing the orientation of doorways coming into the space, a bright, open space resulted. General contracting by historic building experts, Grand River Builders, allowed for a complex process of removing bearing walls and transferring loads to allow for the larger space. Butternut wood was chosen for the cabinets along with historic hardware from Horton Brasses. Details include soapstone countertops, new maple floors, a custom copper range hood, and custom designed furniture – a matching sideboard and breakfast table.
